not trying to be funny, but the stock air intake is probably the best. You can change the drop-in filter to one with better flow (e.g. K&N) or even Hurricane if you change oil regularly (cos of the lower filtering).

Many have changed to open pods but the Imprezas are very sensitive to warm air which is in the engine bay and actually performs worse than the stock air intake.
